Our first vacation... part III

Continued...
I was so used to this resort by now, I was feeling refreshed and healthier after working during odd hours of the day (perks of being a journalist). Every morning I used to look forward to the  lavish breakfast spread consisting of idlis, dosas, French Toast, eggs, parathas, fruits and what not. They cooked with minimum spices and the food was so light on the tummy. Soon we were supposed to check out from this green piece of land. Our stay was full of adventures and was quite blissful. The tryst with this resort was short, but I’ll be back to the same place some day.

After savouring the mighty breakfast spread, we got ready and headed for Puducherry beach tour starting from Paradise Beach, Rock Beach and then quick visit to the museum, garden. We were so engrossed in the activities at our resort that we didn’t mind skipping a few local attractions.

It was time to go back to Chennai via Mahabalipuram, the place known was its temples and monuments built during 8th or 9th centuries. Its monuments are classified by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. So after polishing off two plates of tomato rice, we hopped on our cab and headed to this dreamy town of Tamil Nadu.

We quickly had a glance of Shore Temple, Pancha Rathas located right on the beach in Mahabalipuram. The place had its own old world charm. We bought few souvenirs from here and continued our trip to Chennai. As soon as we entered Chennai, we were welcomed by massive traffic. It took over two hours to reach our Hotel- Park Avenue, a boutique hotel located in Nuggampakkam.

We were supposed to stay in this cityfor one more day before we said goodbye to each other. Trust me saying goodbye in a long distance marriage is the most dreadful thing to do.

Well, the stay at Chennai was memorable. R tried 5-feet long dosa and managed to eat whole of it. We gorged on South Indian thali at Apoorva’s, adjacent to our hotel. The next day was occupied buying local snacks, a Bollywood movie and some shopping. Our brief vacation in long distance marriage was what we needed. It surely made us calmer and more evolved as a couple. I will cherish fond memories of our first vacation as a married couple forever.
